Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup milk
1 egg
1 can (21 oz.) fruit pie filling (apple, cherry, peach, blueberry, blackberry, etc.)
Sugar (or cinnamon-sugar) for sprinkling
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add the softened butter or margarine to the dry ingredients. Using a fork or pastry cutter, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until well combined.
Pour the milk and egg mixture into the dry ingredients. Beat well until the batter is smooth and no lumps remain.
Grease a 9-inch pie plate thoroughly.
Pour the batter into the greased pie plate, spreading it evenly.
Spoon the fruit pie filling into the center of the batter, leaving a 1-inch edge around the perimeter.
If using apple or peach filling, sprinkle the top with cinnamon sugar; otherwise, sprinkle with regular granulated sugar.
Do not stir the batter and filling together.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
Bake the pie for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cooked through.
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
Cut into slices and serve warm or at room temperature.
This recipe makes approximately 6 servings.
Note: You can experiment with different fruit pie fillings to create variations of this pie. Enjoy!
